Saturday, September 22, 2018, will mark another great boxing extravaganza at Wembley Stadium. UK’s biggest heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua will step into the ring. Instead of facing America’s biggest heavyweight boxing star Deontay ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Wilder, however, Joshua will be facing a dangerous opponent in Alexander ‘Russian Vityaz’ Povetkin.

This is a very interesting heavyweight matchup for Anthony Joshua. It’s funny because Joshua is now in the position of ‘Dr. Steelhammer’ Wladimir Klitschko when Klitschko had to face off against Povetkin. Povetkin is going to have to try and defeat Joshua the exact same way he needed to try and defeat Klitschko. The game plan for Povetkin is to try in get inside to break up Joshua.
Povetkin failed to do that against Klitschko in the only loss of his professional boxing career. Now Joshua will have to play the matador in this fight by using his jab while mixing in occasional hooks, crosses, and combinations to keep Povetkin at bay. Can Joshua keep Povetkin off him? If Povetkin can push the pace on Joshua, get inside and do damage, then he will have a good chance of upsetting Joshua on Saturday night.
Joshua will need to take a page from Klitschko; jab, jab, cross; control the middle of the ring, and he will cruise to victory in front of an electric Wembley Stadium boxing crowd. Heck, he might even knock out Povetkin given that Povetkin will have to work harder against a more elusive Joshua, than when he fought Klitschko.
