Last Saturday night, Daniel ‘Miracle Man’ Jacobs finally got what maybe he should have gotten in his fight with Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin; a world title. Jacobs used his good jab, right hand, and body shots to overcome the aggression of Sergiy ‘The Technician’ Derevyanchenko. Jacobs edged out a split-decision victory over Derevyanchenko to capture the vacant IBF middleweight title in front of his hometown crowd at Madison Square Garden.

With the win, Jacobs handed Derevyanchenko the first loss of his professional boxing career. Jacobs vs. Derevyanchenko was a great fight. Derevyanchenko gave Jacobs all he could handle by making Jacobs work. Both fighters wanted to be champion, but in the end, Jacobs’ right hand stole the show. It didn’t hurt that both fighters sparred a lifetime of rounds against each other which made this fight even more difficult for the fighters heading in.
Also, not to mention that both guys are trained by the same trainers who had to split up training duties between the fighters heading in. What an intriguing fight Jacobs vs. Derevyanchenko turned out to be. Jacobs gets the win and is now in line for a lot of big fights. He deserves the shot of cleaning out 160. How great is Daniel ‘Miracle Man’ Jacobs? Is he great enough to gain supremacy in the middleweight division? Well, he certainly has the goods to do it. Time will tell to see which middleweights will dare to step into the ring with him.
