I know that this fight is a long way off, but it is so exciting to see what could turn out to be a great showdown between two of the best fighters in the sport of as Cotto will be ready to chase down and stalk Martinez; and Martinez will be ready to be the Matador in this surefire great matchup.
HBO PPV will be featuring this great showdown as Martinez will be putting his WBC and RING middleweight titles on the line against a sharp and rejuvenated Miguel Cotto.
This fight will definitely display a Miguel Cotto friendly crowd as the fight will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York; a venue that has been great to Cotto in the past as he has had some of his best boxing performances at Madison Square Garden; including his rematch with Antonio Margarito back in December of 2011; in a fight were Cotto got his sought-after revenge on Margarito by stopping him in the 10th round of that rematch.
Sergio Martinez will once again have to dig deep to maintain his Pound for Pound status because in his last fight against Martin Murray, some boxing experts and fans gave Murray the nod even though Martinez was awarded the unanimous decision victory.
Now Martinez will go into hostile territory to defend his middleweight titles against a gamed and confident Cotto who has found the fountain of youth as he looked like the old power-punching destroyer of old in his last fight as he destroyed his last opponent inside of 4 rounds.
Cotto will look to accomplish what only a handful of fighters have accomplished in professional boxing come June 7; and that is win a world title in 4 different weight divisions. As for Martinez, a win over the great Miguel Cotto can surely cement his spot as a boxing hall of famer one day so this should be a great fight on June 7.
June 7, 2014, will mark another great chapter in boxing as Martinez and Cotto, two great fighters, will step inside of the squared circle and do what is best for boxing and that is pit two of the best names in boxing together and give the fans what they want to see; a great fight!
