On August 24, 2019, Sergey Kovalev will be defending his WBO light-heavyweight title against Anthony Yarde. The fight will take place in Kovalev’s home country of Russia and ESPN+ will air this fight. Kovalev will be looking to continue his run to get back to the very top of the light-heavyweight division.
Yarde is an undefeated light-heavyweight contender who will gain superstardom if he can beat the WBO light-heavyweight champion. Yarde is 18 and 0 and has knocked out 17 of his 18 opponents. In Kovalev’s last fight, he regained his WBO light-heavyweight title in his rematch against Eleider ‘Storm’ Alvarez. As a result, Kovalev became a three-time light-heavyweight champion.
Now Kovalev will look to hold on to his WBO light-heavyweight title. He will have his work cut out for him against the strong Anthony Yarde.
