After being ESPN’s #1 source for the sport of boxing, ESPN part ways with Senior Boxing Writer Dan Rafael. Rafael was released by ESPN this month after spending 15 years with them providing the boxing world with the most up to date boxing news and breakout stories.
In the process, Rafael worked his way to becoming one of the best boxing insiders in the world. In 2013, the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) awarded Rafael with the Nat Fleischer Award for Excellence in Boxing Journalism.
The award was a testament to Rafael’s great career in boxing journalism. ESPN, however, did not renew his contract. You have to believe that wherever Rafael’s steps take him next, he will continue to be one of boxing’s best journalists.
