According to Top Rank Boxing promoter Bob Arum, on September 19, 2020, ‘Hi-Tech’ Vasiliy Lomachenko will face Teofimo Lopez in a WBA, WBO, and IBF lightweight unification title fight. This fight will pit one of the best fighters in the sport in Lomachenko against a rising star in Lopez.
This fight was supposed to have taken place in the spring of 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the fire was put out on this fight. Now Lomachenko vs. Lopez is back on the table again. If Arum is correct about this fight being set, it will be the biggest fight made since the coronavirus pandemic.
It’s “Pound 4 Pound vs. Determination.” Lomachenko is considered the #1 Pound 4 Pound fighter in the sport on a lot of boxing experts and fans list. When this fight was first brought to the boxing world’s attention, Lopez was not given a big chance to win a fight against Lomachenko.
As time moved forward, however, Lopez is starting to gain traction as having a huge chance of beating Lomachenko if the two fighters meet in the ring. Hopefully, September 19, 2020, is in stone for Lomachenko vs. Lopez. It would be a great challenge for “Hi-Tech.”
