On Saturday, September 17, 2022, Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin will settle the score once and for all in this trilogy fight. In their first fight five years ago, Golovkin used effective aggression to control the bout. Canelo rallied back in the second half of that fight and fought Golovkin to a draw.

Most boxing experts and fans thought Golovkin did enough in that first fight to win. In their second fight four years ago, Canelo flipped the script on Golovkin, and he became the aggressor in the bout. The move by Canelo took the boxing world by surprise. Even though Canelo took the aggressor role in Canelo vs. GGG 2, most of the boxing world did notice how great Golovkin boxed in the rematch.
In the end, however, Canelo Alvarez got the slim 12th-round majority decision victory. Now on Saturday, September 17, 2022, four years after the rematch, Canelo and Golovkin will put on the epic conclusion to this great rivalry. Canelo will be putting his undisputed super-middleweight titles on the line.
The Canelo vs. Golovkin trilogy should be a great fight for the ages. Expect Golovkin to move behind his jab in hopes of setting up power shots to land on Canelo. Canelo will look to dig into Golovkin’s body as much as possible in the trilogy. Both fighters will be looking to take the aggressor role in the fight.
The question will be, which fighter can break the other’s will? Golovkin may be too old to deal with the younger Canelo. With that said, expect Golovkin to wear down before Canelo.
