Boxing’s current #1 Pound 4 Pound King, Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford’s name has come up lately as a fighter who could have beaten Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, Jr. in his prime. This stance is highly debatable, but let the debate begin. Crawford has cleaned out the junior welterweight division and has run through the welterweight division.

In his last fight back on July 29, 2023, Crawford defeated Pound 4 Pound sensation Errol ‘The Truth’ Spence, Jr. to become the undisputed welterweight champion. With the win, Crawford cemented his place as boxing’s #1 Pound 4 Pound King. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. used his superior defense and boxing skills to leave his opponents befuddled.
Mayweather has a boxing style that is hard to crack, and many opponents found that out when they got in the ring with him. Mayweather also ran through the welterweight division during his #1 Pound 4 Pound King reign.
Crawford is the current boxing #1 Pound 4 Pound King and has won world titles in 3 different weight classes. He unified two weight classes, which consist of the junior welterweight and welterweight divisions. Mayweather won world titles in 5 different weight classes, ranging from junior lightweight to junior middleweight.
Crawford is an unbelievable switch-hitter fighter who can adapt to any style. Mayweather has unbelievable defensive and all-around boxing skills. He can also adapt to any boxing style. Mayweather vs. Crawford would have been the ultimate chess match if these two fighters had fought each other.
We know this fight will never happen, but we can also dream, right? Who would have won a fight between Mayweather and Crawford if both fighters were in their primes in the welterweight division? Check out Potshot Boxing’s (PSB) latest boxing poll and vote.
