The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York will showcase yet another intriguing fight on August 1, 2015, as Danny Garcia will move up to welterweight to fight the always chatty Paulie Malignaggi.

This fight will be part of the growing Premiere Boxing Champions Series (PBC) as ESPN will take its turn to host the PBC series on their network. This should be a pretty good fight. I expect for Danny Garcia to come out and try to cut the ring off on Malignaggi as much as possible in this fight. Malignaggi, on the other hand, will do what he always does in his fights and that is try to use his good elusiveness and work rate to outwork Danny Garcia.
Paulie Malignaggi got stopped in his last fight by Shawn “Showtime” Porter, but Malignaggi is the type of fighter that can give you an “L” if you don’t pack your lunch and bring your “A” game.
What that said, Garcia needs to be careful in this fight as he just skated by in his last 2 fights. Now, it may be due to Garcia having trouble to make 140 lbs. for the last couple of years, but we shall see on Saturday how Garcia’s power will translate to the 147 pound division.
So who wins?
Well if Malignaggi can successfully outwork Garcia in this fight, then I give him a huge chance to win. Now, if Garcia can successfully impose his effective pressure on Malignaggi, then I give him a huge chance to win this fight.
It is once again the “Battle for Brooklyn” on August 1, 2015, and at the end of the day, I believe that 147 will be good to Danny Garcia in a great way.
Prediction: Danny “Swift” Garcia by Unanimous Decision.
