Okay Boxing World, so remember in my last post about the new MGM National Harbor; and how Vasyl ‘Hi-Tech’ Lomachenko would headline the first big fight at that beautiful venue? Well things have changed dramatically as now Vasyl Lomachenko will have to settle for second as a headliner at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill Maryland on April 8, 2017.
Fast forward to now, it will be Lomachenko’s stalker ‘Mr.’ Gary Russell, Jr. who will making a homecoming appearance on March 11, 2017, at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. These new events will now put Russell in the driver’s seat as the first big name fighter to headline a boxing match at the beautiful MGM National Harbor.

‘Mr.’ Gary Russell, Jr. is originally from Capitol Heights, Maryland which is pretty much Washington, DC. With that said, Russell will have the home ring advantage when he puts his WBC featherweight title on the line against Oscar ‘El Guerrero’ Escandon.
One of the Charlo Brothers, Jermell ‘Iron Man’ Charlo will also be on the March 11 card that night. He will be putting his WBC junior middleweight title on the line against Charles ‘The Future’ Hatley. Oh, and one other twist Boxing World. It will be Showtime Championship Boxing who will the first network to showcase a big boxing extravaganza at the MGM National Harbor; not HBO Championship Boxing.
Just wanted to set the record straight Boxing World because I am not sure what happened to these two bouts. Russell and Charlo were scheduled to be on the Adrien Broner vs. Adrien Granados card on February 18, 2017, but for some reason their fights were moved to the MGM National Harbor effective March 11, 2017.
It’s going to be a great night of action on March 11, 2017 which marks the first big boxing extravaganza at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
