This past Saturday night, Canelo produced a good performance in front of the T-Mobile Arena boxing crowd in Las Vegas. Jermell Charlo was gamed and ready, but Canelo proved to be too strong for him. Canelo defeated Charlo by 12th round unanimous decision. Canelo remains the king of the 168-pound division.

Now that Canelo and Charlo have gotten this fight out of the way, Charlo should go back down to 154 pounds and continue to be the king there, while Canelo needs to start taking on legit 168-pound fighters. There are two fighters in particular whom the boxing world would love to see Charlo and Canelo fight next.
For Jermell Charlo, a guy named Tim ‘The Soul Taker’ Tszyu has been chomping at the bit for a shot at the junior-middleweight king. For Canelo, it’s unanimous that everyone wants to see him fight ‘The Mexican Monster’ David Benavidez. Charlo vs. Tszyu and Canelo vs. Benavidez are fights the boxing world will go to the ends of time to see.
Canelo vs. Charlo proved that there are weight divisions for a reason. Fighters need to stay in their lanes sometimes. You have to commend those who dare to be great. Jermell Charlo dared to, but he realized early in the Canelo fight that he had bitten off more than he could chew. Canelo vs. Charlo was an event of what could have been.
It was a fight that was intriguing, but not logical. Hopefully, Charlo and Canelo’s next opponents will be worthy of championship contention because Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo did not mix.
