That award is Potshot Boxing’s (PSB) 2015 Knockout of the Year honors. Canelo’s 3rd round knockout of James Kirkland at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas on May 9, 2015, was one of the best knockouts ever to be witnessed by the boxing world as Canelo knocked Kirkland around in a circle like a spin-cycle.
This epic battle produced 3 of the most brutal rounds the boxing world witnessed in 2015. Canelo and Kirkland left it all in the ring, but it was Canelo who got the better of Kirkland in their exchanges and produced the gut-wrenching knockout that left fans wondering if Kirkland would ever get up off the canvas or be a permanent fixture in the Minute Maid Park boxing ring.
In the 3rd round leading up to the brutal knockout, Kirkland continued to move forward in hopes of wearing Canelo down as it looked as though Canelo may have punched himself out in the 2nd round. As Kirkland was coming in on the inside of Canelo, however, he got caught with one of the best right uppercuts of the 2015 as Canelo dropped him in the 3rd with that uppercut.
Kirkland got up from the right uppercut, and continued to try to impose his will on Canelo. As the 3rd round moved on, Canelo landed vicious combinations on Kirkland, but Kirkland kept on coming!

Finally, Canelo’s laser accuracy would win the night as he threw a straight left hook to Kirkland’s body, followed up by a devastating straight right hand that made Kirkland spin around and hit the canvas.
When Kirkland hit the canvas for the final time, the referee immediately stopped the fight, and Canelo was awarded the 3rd round knockout victory.
Conclusion
