Okay, Boxing World. Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ vs. ‘King Kong.’ Anytime Deontay Wilder steps into the ring, it’s going to be explosive. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York will be no different. Wilder will be going for win number 40 in his professional boxing career and the 39th knockout. Can Ortiz be the second man to survive Wilder’s wrath and take him the distance?
Possibly. I am a little surprised that Ortiz is a heavy underdog in this fight. Don’t get me wrong, Wilder is the favorite, but Ortiz has good boxing skills. Ortiz is going to have to try and get inside of Wilder’s smoking jab and punish his body to have a chance to win this fight. In and out, in and out is what Ortiz will need to do time and time again to try to get the upset victory.
As for Wilder, he just needs to keep Ortiz at the end of his good jab in hopes of laying the boom on Ortiz with that unforgiving right hand. Also, mix in some deadly body shots and uppercuts here and there, rinse and repeat. In the end, Wilder is the man that should win this fight, but Boxing World, don’t sleep on Ortiz in this fight.
If Ortiz’s stamina is up to snuff, he does have a huge chance to not only become the second fighter to take Wilder the distance but even get the decision victory. Will it happen? No. I think Wilder is hungry right now as he looks for a showdown with Anthony Joshua.
Prediction: ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Deontay Wilder by Knockout
