Atlantic City, New Jersey was treated to a great night of boxing as Anthony and Andre Dirrell put on exceptional performances in front of the Trump Taj Mahal boxing crowd. Andre Dirrell showed a lot of heart in his fight with Blake ‘IL Capo’ Caparello, but it was brother Anthony who stole the show as he utilized a short left hook to end the night for his opponent Caleb ‘Golden’ Truax.

Anthony Dirrell’s scintillating 1st round TKO victory over Truax got the Taj Mahal boxing crowd off their feet and capped off a great start to the PBC co-main event as his brother Andre was waiting in the wings to fight in the other co-main event against Caparello.
In Andre Dirrell’s fight with Caparello, Caparello used his long left hook to floor Dirrell in the 2nd round. Dirrell would get up from the knockdown and didn’t do a cool thing but win every round after the knockdown. Andre Dirrell use his good combinations to shoe-shine Caparello in the later rounds when Caparello ran out of steam.
So in a nutshell, Anthony ‘The Dog’ Dirrell scored a great 1st round TKO victory over Caleb Truax, and Andre ‘The Resurrected’ Dirrell got up from a 2nd round knockdown to cruise to a 10th round unanimous decision victory.
Conclusion
I like Anthony Dirrell. He is a little more aggressive than his brother Andre with less talking. Andre Dirrell on the other hand loves to talk, but in my humble opinion, usually bites off more than he can chew. I have never really been sold on the Dirrell Brothers, but Anthony Dirrell is growing on me.
I would love to see Anthony Dirrell get another shot at Badou ‘The Ripper’ Jack for the WBC super-middleweight title. As for brother Andre, well, he can call out everyone at 168 all he wants, but at the end of the day, I just think he is all talk!
