The last time Sergey ‘Krusher’ Kovalev and Eleider ‘Storm’ Alvarez was in the ring with other, it was supposed to have been Kovalev’s continued road back to the top of the light-heavyweight division. There was only one problem. Someone should have told Eleider Alvarez.

In their first meeting on back in August of 2018, Kovalev started off cracking Alvarez early with hard shots. As the fight moved on, Alvarez started to use a good jab, straight right, and combinations to keep Kovalev at bay. It was a great back and forth encounter.
In round 7, Alvarez caught Kovalev with a hard straight right hand that sent Kovalev to the canvas. Kovalev got up from the right-hand shot, only to get knocked down two more times. On the third knockdown, the referee stopped the fight, and Eleider ‘Storm’ Alvarez was awarded the 7th round KO victory. At that moment, Alvarez was crowned the New WBO light-heavyweight champion.
Now the Eleider Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev rematch is almost here. On February 2, 2019, the boxing world will find out whether Kovalev still has the fire to fight, or will Alvarez continue his campaign as one of the best fighters at light-heavyweight.
