Errol ‘The Truth’ Spence, Jr. will have a tough task to get pass on January 20, 2018, when he faces off against Lamont ‘Havoc’ Peterson. Peterson is a great slick boxer who counterpunches and moves well. I expect for Spence to bring the pressure to Peterson in hopes of cutting the ring off on him and defusing Peterson’s movement.
Movement will be the key in this fight for Peterson. If Peterson tries to fight fire with fire with Spence, it will be a short night for Peterson. I expect for Peterson to try and box Spence while fighting in the pocket ever so often.
Peterson can be a tough puzzle to solve so Spence will need to bring it. If Spence gets past a really good Lamont Peterson, it will be his first step to conquering the welterweight division. So, who wins? Peterson has a huge chance to win this fight by using his jab, movement, and counterpunching Spence when Spence pressures.
Spence will need to cut off the ring and bang Peterson to the body at every turn in this fight to have a shot at winning. Give credit to Errol Spence, Jr for taking such a risky fight because Lamont Peterson is a huge risk. Peterson is a very skilled fighter who has a huge shot at taking the IBF welterweight strap away from Spence, but in the end, Spence’s pressure will be enough to put him over the top against a really good Lamont Peterson.
