On January 20, 2018, Errol ‘The Truth’ Spence, Jr. will head into the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY to make the first defense of his IBF welterweight title against the always tough Lamont ‘Havoc’ Peterson. Spence got a lot of praise from the boxing world after going over to the UK and beating ‘Special K’ Kell Brook.
In that fight with Kell Brook, however, Spence showed a little vulnerability as Brook did control a lot of the earlier rounds by landing looping hooks and straight punches through Spence’s guard. Spence, however, showed true grit by walking Brook down late in the fight and getting the stoppage, which was very impressive.
Spence still has a lot of growing to do, but that’s the scary part of Errol Spence, Jr. He still needs more work in the gym, but right now Spence is better than most fighters in the world today. So, it’s mind-boggling to see what the finished product of Errol Spence, Jr. will look like when he reaches his prime.
Lamont Peterson will be a huge test for Spence as Peterson’s elusiveness will make Spence be a little more patient in the ring. Spence should win this fight against Peterson on January 20, though. So, Boxing World. How far up the Pound 4 Pound rankings can Errol ‘The Truth’ Spence, Jr. go? Leave a comment at the bottom of this post.
