This past Saturday night, Erickson ‘The Hammer’ Lubin put himself in a position to get another crack at junior middleweight supremacy. Lubin was superb against a gamed Terrell Gausha.

Lubin outworked Gausha en route to winning a 12th round unanimous decision. With the win, Lubin captured the vacant WBC Silver junior middleweight title.
Also, Lubin will be in line for the winner of September 26, 2020, Jermell Charlo vs. Jeison Rosario WBC, WBA (Super), and IBF junior middleweight unification title fight. If Jermell ‘Iron Man’ Charlo wins the unification fight on September 26, it will pit him and Lubin into a rematch for the titles.
When Lubin fought Charlo the first time back on October 14, 2017, he was undefeated, hungry, confident, and looking to capture his first world title.
In that fight, however, Lubin’s dreams came to a crashing halt as Jermell Charlo knocked him out in the 1st round of that fight, thus, handing Lubin the first professional loss of his boxing career.
Since losing to Charlo, Lubin has been on a 5-fight winning streak and has worked his way back to championship status. Now Lubin will have to wait and see which champion he will face next.
Lubin vs. Rosario would be a great matchup, but I believe most of the boxing world would love to see Charlo vs. Lubin 2. The trash talk alone would be fireworks before the two fighters into the ring.
So how good can Erickson Lubin be? Does he have what it takes to take over the junior middleweight division?
