‘The Dream’ Devin Haney put on a great performance against ‘The Golden Boy’ Jorge Linares. He used his elusive boxing skills to control the distance for most of the fight. Haney suffered a scare late in this fight as Linares caught him with a huge power shot at the end of round 10 that left him staggering back to his corner.

In round 11, Haney was still fighting on shaky legs as Linares was looking to capitalize on the wounded Haney. Haney, however, shook the cobwebs off and finished the fight on his feet. As a result, Haney cruised to a 12th round unanimous decision victory. With the win, Haney retained his WBC lightweight title.
Conclusion
Haney passed the biggest test of his professional boxing career so far against Linares. He controlled every aspect of the fight. Linares proved, however, that in boxing, you only need to land one punch to change the complexion of a fight. He almost pulled off the upset against Haney late but give Haney credit for weathering the storm and finishing the fight like a champion.
Haney’s great boxing skills and elusiveness is going to be trouble for anyone in the lightweight division. With that said, is Haney the best fighter at lightweight? Check out Potshot Boxing’s (PSB) latest boxing poll and vote.
