The Jose Carlos Ramirez vs. Danny O’Connor WBC junior welterweight title fight scheduled for July 7, 2018, has been canceled. The cancellation of this ESPN Main Event fight stems from O’Connor getting taken to the hospital for dehydration after attempting to cut weight prior to the official weigh-in. The ESPN Boxing Undercard was not canceled and will go on as scheduled.

Ramirez was set to make the first title defense of his WBC junior welterweight title in front of his hometown crowd of Fresno, California. Ramirez’s hometown crowd will have to wait to see their hometown hero. Maybe his next fight will take place back in Fresno to the satisfaction of his hometown boxing crowd.
