Here is Potshot Boxing’s (PSB) Prediction for the upcoming Sergey Kovalev vs. Isaac Chilemba WBA, WBO, and IBF light heavyweight title fight.
HBO Boxing will showcase a little “Monday Night Boxing” from Russia as Sergey Kovalev will take center stage in his tune up en route to a fight with Andre Ward in November.

So, to be honest, is this really a boxing prediction or simply a foregone conclusion? Isaac ‘Golden Boy’ Chilemba has a decent philly-shell defense that he uses when an opponent gets in close, but I expect for Kovalev to crack straight through that with a left jab to his shoulder.
Kovalev is ultra-determined to face off against Andre ‘S.O.G.’ Ward in the fall, and I do not expect Chilemba to impede his path. In past fights, Chilemba is known for his good counterpunching, but he can be hit in the process.
I expect for Kovalev to use that perfect left jab and straight right hand to make a statement early on in this fight. Chilemba is a good boxer, so I expect him to last at least half of the fight, but after that, all bets are off.
In the end, Kovalev’s routine left jab, straight right hand, and relentless pressure will overwhelm Chilemba. Now, Chilemba has never been stopped in professional boxing career. I must say, however, there is a first time for everything. Andre Ward, can you get past your tune-up in August?
