In lieu of the circus that will be taking on August 26, 2017, between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor; HBO will be airing a true boxing match for the vacant WBO junior middleweight title. Miguel Cotto and Yoshihiro Kamegai will dare to challenge the Mayweather/McGregor circus. This fight, however, has the potential to be a fight of year candidate kind of fight!

Miguel Cotto will not have to worry about finding Kamegai in this fight because Kamegai loves to bang, and he will be coming for Cotto at every turn in this fight. If Cotto can figure out Kamegai’s relentless pressure, this could definitely turn into a very good one-sided fight.
Kamegai is a human punching bag so he will get hit a lot on August 26. If Kamegai can somehow break Cotto’s will in this fight, this will be the fight of the year. Cotto is known for getting hit as well and have had his will broke a couple of times in his career; Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito to name a couple.
All Cotto needs to do to win this fight is counterpunch, counterpunch, and counterpunch so more. Kamegai’s chance to win is to come forward, apply effective pressure, and take whatever spitfire that comes back at him from Cotto.
So who wins? I feel that Cotto will be the smarter fighter on August 26, 2017, and he will add another strap to his great professional boxing career.
