Here is Potshot Boxing’s (PSB) Prediction for the upcoming WBA (Super), WBO, and IBF light heavyweight title fight between Sergey Kovalev and Jean Pascal.
On March 14, 2015, HBO Boxing will showcase yet another high-octane Sergey Kovalev fight as this time “The Krusher” will take his talents to Jean Pascal’s backyard at Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Sergey “The Krusher” Kovalev will look to further cement his status as one of the best fighters in the world this Saturday, but it will not come easy against the good fighter that he will be facing in Jean Pascal. In his last fight, Kovalev scored the best win of his professional boxing career when he dominated the great Bernard Hopkins in their light-heavyweight unification fight.
Besides the no contest he suffered in his last fight, Jean Pascal is also coming off one of the biggest wins of his professional boxing career when he dominated the upstart Lucian Bute back in January of 2014.
Kovalev’s boxing skills surprised me in the Hopkins fight as he was the quicker fighter in that fight, and he backed Hopkins up with effective aggression. Pascal did a great job in his fight with Bute as well by pacing himself and keeping his stamina under control.
I expect for both guys to start off boxing with Kovalev taking the aggressor role. As the fight goes into the deep waters, I do expect for Pascal to waiver a little which will open the door for Kovalev to impose his incredible will on him.
The great Roy Jones, Jr. will be one of Pascal’s corner men for this fight, but Jones better not advise Pascal to lay on the ropes in this fight because Kovalev is super accurate when pinning fighters against the ropes and landing hard, punishing shots.
I believe that this fight will be entertaining, but in the end, Kovalev’s will control the pace with his aggressive boxing attack, and the only chance Pascal has to win this fight is by effectively counterpunching Kovalev. Can Pascal do this? Well, no one has been able to as of yet, so I do not think that good counterpunching on Kovalev will start with Pascal.
Prediction: Sergey “The Krusher” Kovalev by Unanimous Decision
