Last night Amir Khan was on shaky legs in the 1st round after getting hit with the first big punch by Terence Crawford. It was a great counter shot landed by Crawford that sent Khan to the canvas. Khan got up from the knockdown in the 1st round, but it was clear that every time Crawford connected with power shots on him, his legs would start to do crazy things.

As the fight moved on, Crawford continued to tattoo Khan with hard power shots. Khan showed heart in this fight, but his legs never made it to the fight. Crawford poured on the punishment for as long as the fight lasted. Khan was never in the fight. He had a couple of flash moments, but Crawford dominated him in every round.
By round 6, Khan was busted up and looked ready to go. As Crawford was continuing his assault on Khan in the 6th, he landed a hard low blow that stopped Khan and the entire Madison Square Garden boxing crowd in their tracks. Referee David Fields gave Khan as much time as he needed, but by then, Khan was busted up and could not move as a result of the punishment he was taking along with the low blow.
Khan was asked by his trainer Virgil Hunter if he wanted to continue and he responded he did not. As a result, Referee David Fields stopped the fight, and Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford was awarded the 6th round TKO victory. With the win, Crawford retained his WBO welterweight title.
Conclusion
After the fight, Khan stated that when he got hit with the low-blow, his legs seized up and he just could not continue. He apologized to the Madison Square Boxing crowd and gave Crawford his due as being a great fighter.
Crawford stated that the punch he landed on Khan was not a low-blow, but it was clear by the replay that it was as low as a low-blow can get. As the post-fight interview continued, Crawford was asked about a possible showdown with IBF welterweight champion Errol ‘The Truth’ Spence, Jr.
Crawford stated he definitely wants the fight. Top Rank Promoter Bob Arum stepped in during the interview and said that he wants the Crawford vs. Spence fight to happen, but it is Adviser Al Haymon who is holding up the fight.
Now you really don’t know if that’s true. In the end, however, boxing fans don’t care what the holdup is, they just want to see Crawford vs. Spence in the future. As for Amir ‘King’ Khan, he is a good fighter, but every time he gets hit, his body does not respond well.
Should Khan hang up the boxing gloves the good?
