This past Saturday night, Oscar Valdez put on the best performance of his professional boxing career. There was a lot of the boxing world that was picking Miguel Berchelt to win the Berchelt vs. Valdez fight. Valdez must have taken the underdog role seriously because he used his jab, speed, and left hook to overwhelm the favorite Berchelt.

Berchelt had some moments in this fight by cutting off the ring and banging Valdez with hard shots against the ropes. It was Valdez, however, that would lay the boom on Berchelt towards the end of round 10 with a big left hook that knocked Berchelt out cold.
The referee immediately stopped the fight. Valdez was awarded the 10th round knockout victory. With the win, Valdez captured the WBC junior lightweight title. His knockout of Berchelt will be a 2021 knockout of the year candidate.
After the fight, Berchelt was immediately taken to a local hospital in Las Vegas for observation. Now that Valdez is still undefeated and a world champion at junior lightweight, there are a lot of big fights that can be made for Valdez.
