The year 2013 has displayed a great deal of surprises in the sport of boxing which made this year one of the most exciting years of boxing our sport has experienced in history.
There were a lot of exciting fights from Timothy Bradley vs. Ruslan Provodnikov, which reminded me of the best fight I ever witnessed in the late great Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo; to another brutal action fight we witnessed this year in Omar Figueroa vs. Nihito Arakawa.
The great Floyd “Money” Mayweather proved to us once again that he is the pound for pound king when he made the biggest super fight in boxing history look like a joke when he simply outclassed the young and determined Canelo Alvarez.
There are a lot of up-and-coming prospects that have definitely taken the boxing world by storm this year; fighters such as Adonis “Superman” Stevenson, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade, and Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev just to name a few.
We also saw a lot of upsets this year in boxing year in boxing, from Adrien Broner getting humbled by Marcos Maidana, to the great Chris John announcing his retirement after suffering the first professional boxing loss of his career.
Conclusion
Overall, the sport of boxing grade for 2013 was truly an A. The sport of boxing will never die as every year there will always be some young prospect that will take the boxing world by storm. Also, there will always be an old veteran looking to make a comeback; seeking to stake his claim as one of the best of all time.
